Customers want to take control of their interactions more than ever and are opting for self service in nearly every possible venue. Fortunately, businesses and organizations have more tools at their disposal to offer customers a self service option.

Joe Loparco

Attendees at the Interactive Customer Experience Summit will have a chance to hear from a panel of experts on identifying their objectives and what pitfalls to avoid when introducing self service during a session, "What's the Latest and Greatest with Self Service" at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at The Westin Charlotte.

Clark Whittington

Panelist Joe Loparco, president of Automated Services International Inc., recognizes many businesses and organizations are considering vending machines as a way to increase revenue with less labor.

William Sullivan IV

Loparco will describe the importance of understanding your objectives and what to look for in a technology supplier.

"Do your homework," Loparco said in an email interview. "Make sure you understand that operating a vending machine is not the passive experience many sellers would lead you to believe."

Steven King

Panelist Clark Whittington, founder of Art-O-Mat, a self-service system for selling art, notes the importance of understanding not only the benefits to a location for having an Art-O-Mat machine but how to pre-qualify a location that will be successful with such a machine.

"We bring positivity into every space we have our installations," Whittington said in an email interview. "That translates into a positive patron visit, connections for the artist and hopefully good things for the host venue."

Panelist will also include William Sullivan IV, vice president and senior client experience manager at Cambridge Trust Co., and Steven King, chief innovations officer at UNC Blue Sky Innovations.

Melanie Endres, CEO of Code Factory SL, the session sponsor, will moderate the session.

The Interactive Customer Experience Summit, which is celebrating its seventh year, will take place Sept. 11-13 in Charlotte, North Carolina and is the official event of the Interactive Customer Experience Association. It is taking place simultaneously with the Bank Customer Experience Summit. Both events are hosted by Networld Media Group.
