Tyco updates retail RFID tools

The new features enable retailers to maximize existing investments in iOS devices for RFID inventory transactions and to support in-store mobility strategies.

Tyco Retail Solutions, a global provider of retail performance and security solutions, has announced the release of TrueVUE version 5.1, which it says further enhances its capabilities to accelerate large scale retail RFID deployments faster and more cost effectively across all stores chain-wide.

According to the company, the latest version of TrueVUE facilitates centralized setup and control of inventory management to drive accuracy, visibility and operational efficiencies. In addition, the new features enable retailers to maximize existing investments in iOS devices for RFID inventory transactions and to support in-store mobility strategies.

The company said its TrueVUE enhancements extend the value of mobile technologies in the store by expanding mobile RFID inventory management capabilities to drive efficiencies and empower store associates. The updated platform leverages retailers’ existing investment in cost-effective iOS devices combined with add-on RFID readers. Additionally, a newly supported RFID sled reader is designed to communicate with a variety of host devices via Bluetooth wireless technology. The ready-made assemblies mount iOS devices on the reader, leveraging mobile devices already in use in the store, such as an iPhone or iPod Touch.
