UK mobile coupon company Eagle Eye secures funding

June 20, 2011

UK Mobile voucher company Eagle Eye Solutions has raised £1.5 million (US$2.4 million) in a round of funding led by Sir Terry Leahy, former CEO of UK retailer Tesco.

According to International Supermarket News, Eagle Eye will use the funding to expand its team and grow its retail partnerships.

“We are delighted to have secured the backing of such experienced and high profile figures within the industry,” said CEO of Eagle Eye Solutions Steve Rothwell, in the story. “This funding round will enable us to accelerate our progress and sign up more retailers more quickly than we could organically.”

“The retail industry is waking up to the huge opportunities that mobile marketing represents and mobile coupons are a vital component,” said Leahy. “Eagle Eye is leading the way in this field and I look forward to playing a part in its positive impact on the market.”

Leahy’s new investment comes a week after he announced a £2 million (US$3.2 milliion) investment in Metapack, an online delivery management company.
