Under Armour aims to go beyond retail

January 10, 2017

Athletic apparel, footwear and gear maker Under Armour has plans to advance beyond retail and just signed a 10-year deal to provide uniforms for Major League Baseball as of 2020, according to a report from International Council of Shopping Centers

Founder and CEO Kevin Plank aims to have 1,000 stores in operation by 2018 and revenues soon hitting the $5 billion mark, according to ICSC. The 'beyond retail' strategy includes the company's commitment to helping Baltimore, Maryland via a waterfront redevelopment project for the company's headquarters.

"When we do well, we can do good," Plank said, according to the ICSC report. "It's a new day in Baltimore."
