Vacation, tablet are top Father's Day wants, reveals survey

June 7, 2016

A chance to get away and relax, or a new tablet device, are the top wants when it comes to Father's Day this year.

A new Ebates survey also notes tickets to a sporting event and power tools as most popular presents.

One thing not to get Dad, at least over 90 percent of Dads, is a gym membership and more than a third aren’t going to be happy getting socks, ties or underwear.

About 25 percent would also be happy with a six pack of their favorite brew and 21 percent will embrace BBQ gear.

Overall, consumers are expected to spend way less on the parent celebration day compared to last month's Mother's Day.

"Finding the right gift for Dad can be a challenge, since preferences seem to vary widely from year to year," said Kevin H. Johnson, CEO of Ebates, in an announcement. "Last year, clothing topped dads' wish lists, but this year it seems like most dads would prefer a vacation."
