As millions of consumers are being vaccinated to combat the COVID-19 virus it's not likely too many will be increasing trips to retail stores.

In fact, 40% will continue shopping as they've been during the nearly one year pandemic, according to a First Insight study that polled 1,000-plus consumers about buying activity.

"Number one, not everyone feels comfortable getting vaccinated," First Insight founder and CEO Greg Petro told CNBC. "Number two, most people are not going to rush into stores after getting vaccinated. It's going to take a long time for people to get really comfortable and reacclimated to the way the world was. And so you can count on 2021 looking very similar to 2020."
