The Daily Times (Maryland): Wal-Mart is getting a new look, and county planners couldn't be happier. The new design was created to be on more of a human scale, said architect Gabriel Massa, who has spent about a year reworking the building.
"When you walk past these big box stores, they can be so overwhelming," he said.
Using elements found in other local buildings — such as roof gables, awnings and brick facades — as well as incorporating suggestions from the county's "Design Guidelines and Standards for Commercial Uses," Massa was able to keep the store in line with Worcester's traditional building aesthetic.
