Hsiao Wang has been tapped by Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. as CIO.

He replaces Francesco Tinto who served as CIO for the past three years, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The news comes several months after Walgreens named Linh Peters as chief marking officer and appointed two senior leaders to drive its expanding healthcare effort.

Wang had previously served as CIO at Michaels Cos., an arts and crafts retailer, and takes on his new role on Sept. 26. He will report to CEO Rosalind Brewer and will be part of the retailer's executive leadership team.

Prior to CIO at Michaels, he was CTO for Walmart's Sam's Club.
