Walmart and Instacart are teaming up on a pilot delivery strategy to provide same-day grocery delivery in the U.S..
The pilot, according to a CNBC report, is taking place in four markets across Oklahoma and California and is viewed as a competitive move to beat Amazon when it comes to online order delivery.
"Today, we welcomed Walmart to the Instacart marketplace for the first time in the U.S. Instacart now delivers from Walmart locations in three California markets — Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego — as well as Tulsa, Oklahoma," an Instacart spokesperson said in a statement, according to the news report. "The new partnership brings thousands of items — from groceries, alcohol and pantry staples to home décor and improvement, personal care, electronics and more — at everyday low prices from Walmart stores to customers' doors in as fast as an hour."
Walmart is the latest retailer embracing Instacart as a delivery arm. Instacart is already working with other big brand retailers including Costco and Kroger.
