Walmart Inc. plans to roll out its membership-based Delivery Unlimited grocery service to 1,400 stores nationwide starting this fall.
The program, which costs $98 a year, or $12.95 per month, provides unlimited grocery deliveries to customers. The big-box retailer will also allow customers to pay a per-delivery fee without joining the program.
"Grocery Delivery takes convenience to a new level and our customers love it," Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer at Walmart, said in a press release. "With Delivery Unlimited, we’re providing incredible value for our customers and leveraging our unique assets to save them both time and money."
Walmart launched pilot programs earlier this year in Houston, Miami, Salt Lake City and Tampa. Based on the positive feedback from those areas, the chain is expanding the service to 200 markets around the country.
Membership in the program will have a 15-day free trial.
