There's no more Scan&Go happening at Walmart as the top retailer has shuttered the cashierless checkout app.
The reason, according to a Business Insider report, was due to little shopper interest and participation.
Walmart’s decision comes as its top competitor, Amazon, is going full force with its cashierless shopping experience, Amazon Go, with recent reports noting it's expanding the store strategy into several more locations beyond the pilot Seattle location.
The shuttering comes four months after Walmart stated it was going to expanding testing of the service to more than 100 locations, according to BI.
"There was low participation," Walmart spokesman Ragan Dickens told BI, adding there was also some "friction" in the customer experience.
