Wegmans Food Markets keeps CEO role all in the family

Colleen Wegman, who joined her family's business, Wegmans Food Markets, in 1991 is now CEO and president.

She had been serving as president since 2005. Her father, Danny Wegman, the prior CEO, will take the title of chairman, according to a press release.

"I will continue in my role, but now as chairman of the company," Danny Wegman said in a statement. "The time has come to create a structure for the future that will allow us to remain strong, vibrant and family-owned. I have no doubt that our company will be in good hands."

Wegmans Food Markets is a 92-store chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016.
