Yet Market Force study reveals Trader Joe's popularity is dipping a bit with shoppers.
April 15, 2016
Trader Joe's is no longer the consumer's favorite grocery store. After spending the last four years as the top ranking supermarket in the annual Market Force study it is now in third place, behind Publix Super Markets, which took second, and Wegmans, which now holds the top slot.
The Market Force study polled more than 10,000 consumers regarding grocery shopping experience satisfaction and whether they're inclined to recommend a grocer, according to an announcement.
Wegmans did not even make the 2015 list, and doubled its votes in 2016 with a score of 76 percent to grab the top spot. Publix, with a score of 75 percent, ranked second for the fourth year. Trader Joe's, which lost 5 percentage points, took a 73 percent score. Hy-Vee and Aldi grabbed fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
When it comes to price, Aldi is the top favorite and Trader Joe's took first place for cashier courtesy. In terms of best sales and promotions ShopRite, Meijer and Kroger landed on top, and Hy-Vee performed well across all categories.
