Forbes recently ranked Apple as the 17th largest corporation in the United States, a huge leap from when it finished 35th on last year's list. Part of the success is coming from its Apple-branded retail stores, but Apple products are also hitting the shelves of more third-party retailers, including Target and Walmart, in less populated areas that may not support an Apple store, according to ecommercetimes.com.
But some analysts wonder if Apple products sold in a big-box retailer can generate the same brand loyalty that they would in an Apple store. It might be a better strategy for Apple to open mini-stores inside Walmart and Target locations, considering Apple consumers are used to trying products before they buy them and very high standards in customer service.
