Zappos.com, a 23-year-old online footwear retailer, has named its first-ever chief marketing officer.
Ginny McCormick previously worked for Amazon Hub, the operations division for Amazon's pickup and returns lockers, as global marketing director, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Amazon bought Zappos three years ago for $1.2 billion.
"Historically, the company has used a personalized blend of employee empowerment and management that gives employees responsibility over their individual roles, combined with the guidance and mentorship of a department leader," McCormich told the news outlet. "There are no plans to sway from this structure."
In her role she aims to expand partnerships and "storytelling capabilities to amplify new voices and stories," according to the news report.
Prior to her initial Amazon role McCormick served as CMO at Funko, which makes pop culture toys and figurines.
