4K display industry to hit $178.3B by 2026

A study, "4K Display — Global Market Trajectory & Analytics," published by Global Industry Analysts, reports the 4K display industry could reach $178.3 billion in market value by 2026.

The report also details challenges the industry continues to face as it recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a press release. Technology segments covered in the report include televisions, monitors, smartphones, digital signage and others. Thirty-two companies were covered in the research, including AU Optronics, BOE Technology Group, Haier Group, Hisense Group, Innolux,, Koninklijke Philips NV; LG Display, Sony and others.

Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the global market for 4K display estimated at $58.4 billion in 2020, is projected to reach $178.3 billion within five years, growing at a CAGR of 20.1%.

The television industry is projected to record a 21.5% CAGR and reach $131.8 billion by 2026. After a thorough analysis of the business implications of the pandemic and its induced economic crisis, growth in the monitors segment was readjusted to a revised 19.7% CAGR for the next seven-year period.

The 4K display market in the U.S. is estimated to reach $19.5 billion in 2021. China, the world's second largest economy, is forecast to reach a projected market size of $28 billion by 2026, trailing a CAGR of 19.5% over the analysis period. Among the other noteworthy geographic markets are Japan and Canada, each forecast to grow at 18% and 16.8% respectively. Within Europe, Germany is forecast to grow at approximately 13.8% CAGR.

In the smartphones segment, the US., Canada, Japan, China and Europe will drive the 20.5% CAGR estimated for this segment. These regional markets accounted for a combined market size of $803.6 million in 2020 and will reach a projected size of $3 billion by the end of 2026. China should remain among the fastest growing in this cluster of regional markets. Led by countries such as Australia, India, and South Korea, the market in Asia-Pacific is forecast to reach $773 million by 2026.
