The Westfield Chicago Ridge shopping center, an 800,000 sq. ft. mall located outside of Chicago, announced today it will add a 20,000 sq. ft. ALDI grocery store. According to the company, this will be the first time an ALDI has been located inside a regional mall.
The store is slated to open in May, in the space formerly occupied by Steve & Barry's. Redesign and remodeling are currently underway. According to the company, the mall entrance to the store will be built around a "loading zone" which will make it easy for shoppers to get merchandise from store to car.
