Though Amazon's e-commerce site did not suffer any downtime or sales loss, more than 50 online retailers did when Amazon's web services experienced a big hiccup last week.
The S3 cloud storage service outage last Tuesday brought down 54 of the top 100 online commerce sites, according to a Business Insider report.
The report cites Cyence analysis data that S&P 500 companies lost $150 million during the four-hour event and that financial services firms lost about $160 million.
E-commerce site response slowed to a crawl with sites such as Victoria Secret taking 353 percent longer to load than usual. The Nike site, according to BI, took 642 percent longer.
Amazon's site went unaffected as did Costco.com, Wal-Mart.com and Apple, according to Business Insider.
