This Thursday, Amazon will introduce its "Just Walk Out" technology at the Amazon Fresh store at 11340 South St. in Cerritos, California, allowing shoppers to enter, grab what they need and leave, according to an East Bay Times report. The option is already in use at four Amazon Fresh stores in Bellevue, Washington, Washington, D.C. and in the Chicago area.
There are hundreds of cameras throughout the store and sensor-enabled shelving which, coupled with deep-learning algorithms, recognizes all products shoppers remove or put back on the shelves, said Jondolon Bush, Amazon Fresh district manager.
Customers enter the store by scanning the QR code in their Amazon app, use Amazon One to scan their palm or insert a debit or credit card linked to their Amazon account.
When they leave, the card is charged. To get a receipt, they go to a kiosk, enter their email address and receive a receipt.
Other Amazon Fresh stores feature checkout-free Dash Carts, which require shoppers to create an Amazon account or download an app.
