Amazon may be mulling new wrist tracking device

February 8, 2018

A New York Post report reveals Amazon has two patents related to a device that may track a worker's hand while on the job.

The report stated the wristband would tap ultrasonic sound or possibly radio transmission to track hands during inventory work. Patent paperwork cited by the Post noted the device could improve efficiency and make product location efforts easier.

“Improved approaches for keeping track of where an inventory item is stored are of interest,” stated a patent filing, according to the report.

The Post noted that Amazon told AFP that speculation regarding tracking workers is "misguided," and the device is aimed at improving the fulfillment process.
