Amazon offers up new student loan discount program

Amazon.com is partnering with Wells Fargo to offer a new loan discount program for students.

The program is available to students enrolled as an Amazon Prime customer.

"We are focused on innovation and meeting our customers where they are – and increasingly that is in the digital space," John Rasmussen, Wells Fargo's head of personal lending group, said in the release. "This is a tremendous opportunity to bring together two great brands. At Amazon and Wells Fargo, delivering exceptional customer service and helping customers are at the center of everything we do."

The news is the latest example of how the mega etailer is expanding beyond ecommerce and moving into new product and services territory.
