Amazon opens yet another Kansas fulfillment location
Amazon.com is opening another fulfillment center in Kansas City, Kanasas, marking its fifth in the state. The Kansas location will offer more than 1,000 full-time employment opportunities.
"We are thrilled to continue investing in Kansas, proud of our ability to create great jobs, and most importantly, excited to better serve our customers throughout the Midwest," said Akash Chauhan, Amazon's VP of North American operations, in a release.
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback said, "The state is dedicated to attracting companies and helping them grow and create jobs. I am proud that Amazon has chosen to once again expand its footprint in the state and am confident this continued partnership will benefit all Kansans."
Employees will pick, pack, and ship books, electronics and toys.
"This is a transformative capital investment in our city … it is transformative because of the quality employment opportunity Amazon will offer. Our residents will now have access to a career pathway that includes not only a job, but a chance at an education. I'm thrilled to welcome Amazon to our community," said Mark Holland, Kansas City mayor.
