Amazon is expanding its music and podcast universe to its Prime subscription members without requiring any additional cost.
The move comes as service providers are battling for the consumer's attention and dollars. Competitors including Costco and Walmart are also busy expanding and bundling additional features and services to its memberships. It also comes at a time when Amazon's market share may be at a plateau point with subscription sign ups slowing down.
Prime members will have Amazon's full catalog of podcasts and music available — about 100 million songs compared to the previous 2 million songs, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
