Apple unveils new store design in California

September 10, 2013

Apple unveiled its latest retail store design last Saturday at the opening of a new location in Stanford, Calif.

According to an article on Forbes.com, new design elements include 20-foot-tall glass storefront windows that wrap around half of the 6,825 square-foot space, while a stone wall hides another half that lies beneath an arched skylight. A stainless steel roof projects out from the storefront, providing sun protection and giving what the article calls a "sanctuary-like appearance."

Inside, a long Genius Bar in the center enables 360-degree access for customers, with tables and counters allowing room for training and product set-up. There are also two kid's tables and accessory shelves lining three walls. A third section of the building houses stock rooms, offices and a repair space.

The new architecture will be used for Apple stores set to open in Portland, Ore., and Aix-en-Provence, France, the article said.
