Aussie retailer Coles deploys tablet displays for customer service, analytics

March 13, 2013

Australian retail chain Coles is testing the use of fixed interactive tablet displays at one of its store locations, according to an article on crn.com.au.

The displays are positioned in the analgesics section of the store to allow consumers to search information on pain relief products, while at the same time provide data and analytics to the retailer, the article reported.

The tablet technology, along with facial recognition software and electronic labels, are being showcased at a recently opened "retail evolution lab," according to the article. The lab was built as part of a partnership between digital signage group AOPEN and retail designer Red Design Group. It also showcases content management tools from Fujitsu and cameras and facial recognition tools designed to track customer interactions from Intel.
