Brick-and-mortar retailers will enjoy a 57.3 percent of consumer shopping share this holiday season and 50 percent of shoppers will make at least one purchase via a mobile device, according to a JLL survey.
The mobile purchase figure is up quite a bit in just 12 months; just 22.2 percent of consumers bought a gift via a mobile device in 2017.
The survey also reveals 34.4 percent of consumers will begin shopping before Thanksgiving and 28.6 percent will shop over the Black Friday weekend, according to a press release on the survey results.
"This year shoppers are visiting both digital and physical outlets, which reflects the continued merging of shopping channels that has been happening in retail over the past few years," said Greg Maloney, CEO of JLL Retail, in the release. "The role of the retail store and shopping center will continue to transform from a transactional-only model to an immersive and experiential one."
