Canada gets its mobile POS

Payfirma Corp., a Canadian payment processor, has launched a mobile point of sale for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad that lets any business process credit and debit transactions. Similar to U.S. mobile POS solutions like Intuit's GoPayment and Square, the app can be used by any business with a Payfirma merchant account.

"We developed this product with Canadians in mind," Payfirma founder and CEO Micahel Gokturk said. "While there are other apps similar to Payfirma's out there, none are designed with the needs and culture of Canadian merchants or consumers in mind."

The app is available for free through Apple's iTunes App Store and the card reader can be ordered from Payfirma. Merchants must have a valid Canadian merchant account to process transactions.
