Lee Valley Tools, an Ottawa, Canada tool and garden retailer, is offering consumers a mobile shopping tool to foster contactless shopping at its 20 locations in the country.
It's the retailer's latest in-store safety strategy in the wake of COVID-19, according to a press release. The mobile technology incorporates the JavaScript edition o the Dynamsoft barcode reader and integrates with the retailer's website.
"The health and safety of our customers and staff is our number one priority and our new easy-to-use mobile feature provides another layer of protection while shopping in-store during these unprecedented times," Jason Tassé, Lee Valley Tools COO, said in the release. "We're thrilled to launch this mobile tool in all our stores across Canada to give our customers a user-friendly way of making the browsing and purchase process contactless."
The tool lets in-store shoppers use a mobile device to visit the retailer's website and after selecting the store location on the site, they can start shopping. Customers don't need to download anything on their mobile device, and they can scan an item's barcode and see a full description of every product offered by Lee Valley Tools before deciding to purchase. The mobile feature provides a completely contactless shopping experience and allows for no physical products to be touched in-store and a smooth checkout process.
