Mother's Day proved to be a $30.3 billion spend day for retailers with the consumer averaging $124 on gifts.
The most generous shoppers live in Texas, according to a Finder.com report, spending an average of $248, followed by New Yorkers who doled out $225 and consumers in Washington who spent $210.
The most thrifty consumers apparently live in Oregon, where consumers spent an average of $30, followed by Wisconsin ($33) and Indiana ($34).
The spend survey reveals sons spend more than daughters, with the average male spending an average of $177 while females spent just a bit over half, $97.
In terms of generations, the millennial is the most generous, spending $296, in contrast to $41 by baby boomers.
The report noted shoppers spend much more on Mother’s Day than on Father's Day, as consumers averaged about $84 for dads.
