Costco is still selling its well-known, and beloved, $1.50 hot dog deal (a quarter-pound all-beef dog and a 20-ounce soda with endless refills) but the wholesaler has made a tweak.
Costco hot dog lovers now have the option of swapping out the soda for a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland water, according to a Fox Business report.
It's the first update to the hot dog deal in more than four decades.
From social media reaction it's clear more than a few Costco shoppers are happy to have a water option.
"Finally! I usually just ask for no cup or throw it away because I try not to drink soda as much and the water from the dispense tastes weird. No more having to remember a quarter when I go to Costco," a Reddit user wrote.
Back in mid March Ron Vachris, CEO, made it very clear Costco won't be changing the price (set in 1985) while he's at the helm.
"The hot dog price will not change as long as I'm around," he said.
