David's Bridal, a wellknown bridal dress and accessory retailer, is laying off thousands of workers but will fulfill orders without disruption or delay, according to an email sent to customers early this week.
It also pledges to keep its stores open and its "focus on delivering magical moments" remains unchanged.
The layoffs, reported by CNN, which cited a notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, will eliminate just over 9,200 positions in the U.S.
Industry analyst Neil Saunders said the move reflects a massive restructuring and predicts the retailer is headed for a sale or bankruptcy action.
"The scale of these layoffs suggest that David's Bridal is in crisis mode," Saunders, managing director at GlobalData Retail, told CNN.
The latest struggle for the specialty retailer comes five years since it announced it was filing for bankruptcy in 2018.
