Elliott Wilke, a former Amazon.com Inc. leader, has been named chief growth officer at GameStop Corp.
The news was welcomed by shareholders as the game retailer saw shares spike 5% after the announcement, according to a Reuters report.
The appointment comes on the heels of GameStop's strategy to become more digital and follows the departure of Chief Customer Officer Frank Hamlin and CFO Jim Bell.
GameStop also named Andrea Wolfe, an ex-Chewy.com executive, to lead brand development and another Chewy leader, Tom Peterson, to head merchandising.
