Grocer says no to kiosks

Sparkle Markets, which operates 18 stores in northeast Ohio, western Pennsylvania and West Virginia, has announced it will not use self-checkout kiosks, according to a wkbn.com report.

Vincent Furrie Jr., president, said big grocery brands are phasing out cashiers in the belief that limiting human interaction is the future of retail shopping.

Furrie said employing neighbors benefits both the company and the community.
