A kiosk recently installed at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport allows guests to purchase sandwiches, snacks, kombucha and other fare, made with local ingredients, from an unattended kiosk using a tablet and card reader or by dropping cash in a mailbox, according to a CBC report.
Entrepreneurs Najib Faris and Francesco Stara got the idea after visiting nearby farms to pick up produce for their Bedford restaurant, Mabata Glocal Eatery. Customers at the farms were trusted to pay at unattended stands.
The kiosk has seen a 100% payment rate since opening on July 10.
