Kohl’s will hire on about 10,000 more workers than competitor Walmart this holiday season as it gear ups to bring in more than 69,000 store associates.
The seasonal employees will work in retail locations, credit operations and distribution centers, according to a Market Watch report.
Walmart announced it’s hiring on 60,000 for the holiday season crunch.
"Kohl’s is hiring more than 69,000 seasonal associates to prepare for another exciting holiday season. We want to ensure we provide the excellent service and easy experience Kohl’s customers expect, whether shopping in stores or online," Richard Schepp, Kohl’s chief administrative officer, stated in the announcement.
The hiring will place an average of 50 more employees at each store. Kohl’s currently operates 1,166 stores in 49 states. About 9,500 of the jobs will be created at its e-commerce fulfillment locations and 660 will be hired on to help with credit operations. According to the announcement, the newly hired associates in stores also help with freight-processing and customer service on the sales floor and at the point of sale.
