Lowe's is promoting its chief merchandising officer into the role of chief customer officer, a new position in the company.
Michael McDermott, who has served in the merchandising leadership role for two years, will now spearhead "creating experiences that best serve customers," according to an announcement. He will direct customer experience design, omnichannel strategy as well as the company's merchandising offerings for all of Lowe’s U.S. stores and its online site.
Prior to serving as head of merchandising, McDermott served as senior vice president and general merchandising manager-building and maintenance, and was responsible for Lowe's lumber & building materials, millwork, hardware & tools and rough plumbing & electrical divisions.
