Mall owner closing locations on Thanksgiving

Simon Property Group, one of the biggest mall owners in the U.S., will be closing all mall sites on Thanksgiving.

The news is another reflection of how the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is altering the long tradition of big sales on Thanksgiving as well as Black Friday and the holiday shopping experience.

The malls will be open on Black Friday, according to a CNN report.

"In these challenging times, we made the decision that we will not open on Thanksgiving Day, instead allowing our associates to spend the holiday with their loved ones," David Simon, Simon Poperty CEO, said in a press release.
