Midwestern supercenter operator Meijer has done some innovative work online this year, such as its express grocery pickup program. For the holidays, Meijer unveiled another innovation: the GiftCracker wish list tool.
Through Dec. 20, visitors can use the site to send secret invitations by email, inviting recipients to create wish lists. A recipient is not told who is sending the invitation. The sender of the invitation specifies a price range, and the recipient is shown a variety of products within that range.
Once the list is built, it is returned to the sender, who can purchase any or all of the items on the list instantly. All is revealed to the recipient on Christmas morning.
