Lawmakers in Minneapolis are considering a ban of surveillance-pricing technology and use when it comes to food retail establishments.
Surveillance pricing is setting a custom price for a specific consumer based on data gains via electronic surveillance.
The proposed bill would also ban electronic shelving labels, according to a KSTP.com report.
Some retailers have told lawmakers the bill could curtain targeted promotions and rewards that could save shoppers money.
As of press time the bill was under review for potential inclusion in an omnibus bill.
