A good number of Americans share a job history, working in retail at some point, according to a new study.
The National Retail Federation report reveals 59 percent of Americans have worked in retail at some point in their lives, whether in a retail store or a restaurant.
That beats out the numbers who have worked in business office environments or in a factory and warehouse role. The study notes 32 percent of those with a retail background were hired in their first retail job at the average age of 16.
