The Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York is now home to a fleet of six driver-less cars running seven days each week to shuffle ferry passengers for free around the yard complex.
The vehicles are electric Polaris cars with laser scanners, computer systems and cameras, according to a New York Times report.
The cars are being operated by 4-year-old startup, Optimus Ride, which has provided more than 20,000 autonomous vehicle rides, mostly in Boston. The cars are staffed by a safety driver and software operator, though they are autonomous vehicles.
