In an effort to stem competition from Amazon.com, Office Depot is teaming up with Alibaba on an e-commerce effort aimed at the small and medium size business marketplace.
The partnership, according to a Reuters report, will create a co-branded online site. It is Alibaba's first B2B with a top U.S. retailer and gives the Chinese online giant access to Office Depot's 10 million customers and sales agents. For Office Depot the partnership brings access to Alibaba's global network of over 150,000 suppliers, according to the report.
"This is a great catalyst for growth for small and medium businesses in the United States. We believe it is going to save them time, it is going to save them money," Office Depot Chief Executive Officer Gerry Smith told Reuters.
