The holiday hiring season has begun, and retailers are trickling out statistics on the numbers of new hires, according to an article on ibtimes.com.
Kohl's announced its numbers first, reporting that temporary jobs are up 10 percent to 52,700, not including the 5,700 distribution workers. That number is more than half the amount of jobs the Department of Labor said found work nationwide in August, according to the article.
Target, J.C. Penny, Toys R Us and Macy's are expected to announce new hire numbers later this week, while Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, does not release any data on seasonal hiring.
