The U.S. business segment is growing, according to the latest ADP report, with 237,000 jobs added by businesses in June, according to a New York Times report.
That’s a healthy jump over May during which 203,000 jobs were added, according to the payroll processor company.
The June figure is the highest since December, 2014, according to the Times, and is likely the result of healthier consumer spend and a stronger housing market. In addition, consumer spend went up this July 4 holiday weekend. A survey reveals the average spend will be $71.23 per household, a healthy jump from $68.16 in 2014, with more than 156 million consumers, nearly two thirds of those planning to celebrate the federal holiday, attending a picnic, barbeque or cookout.
The Times report states home sales is at its best in the past eight years.
The retail sector accounted for 50,000 of the 237,000 jobs added in June.
