RICHARDSON, Texas — Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. announced today that Genesco Inc., a leading North American shoe and headwear retailer, will upgrade its POS technology with Fujitsu's TeamPoS 3000 XL2 systems. The rollout includes 1,350 locations across Genesco's Journeys, Journeys Kidz, Shi by Journeys, Underground Station and Johnston & Murphy chains.
Fujitsu also will provide staging, project management and installation for the initiative, which began this summer and is scheduled to continue through 2009.
"After researching several technology vendors, we chose Fujitsu because of their passion for innovation and eagerness to collaborate," said Jeff Orton, chief information officer at Genesco. "In addition, the TeamPoS 3000 XL2 is one of the top POS hardware solutions on the market, offering superior speed, energy efficiency and ruggedness. We believe those technology characteristics, combined with Fujitsu's services and support, will help us further enhance our store environment, increase customer service and cut costs."
Fujitsu's TeamPoS 3000 XL2 is the first POS system to feature Intel's Core 2 Duo mobile processor, giving retailers powerful performance and energy efficiency. Point-of-sale processing is 300 percent faster with the dual-core processor than previous technology — and 40 percent more energy efficient than desktop architecture. The TeamPoS 3000 XL2 also offers the advantage of hardened laptop components, such as hard drives that are rugged and shock-resistant, which are ideal for the retail environment.
"Genesco is one of the leading footwear and headwear retailers in North America, and we're proud to have them as a client," said Danny Westheimer, regional vice president of sales at Fujitsu Transaction Solutions. "We look forward to completing a smooth rollout, and helping Genesco achieve enhanced levels of store operations and customer service."
