The day before Cyber Monday is now being deemed the newest top holiday shopping day, "Sofa Sunday," and new research reveals the top sofa-based ecommerce activity will be deal searches, according to a press release.
The data from Valassis, derived by a Google Consumer Survey, expects 71 percent of Cyber Monday shoppers will be prepping on the previous day, with 45 percent spending two or more hours in research efforts. More than half, 52 percent, will be tapping desktop or laptop devices while 36 percent will be using smartphones.
A good number of "sofa" consumers (67 percent) hope the research will translate to more than $100 in Cyber Monday savings.
"With so much attention focused on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, many retailers may overlook Sofa Sunday—an influential shopping day," said Curtis Tingle, chief marketing officer, Valassis, in the release.
