Study: Valentine's Day spending to hold steady

February 1, 2010

Despite the general perception that the economy is slowly recovering, most consumers anticipate spending a similar amount on their significant other this Valentine's Day compared with 2009.

According to a new survey published by Morpace Market Research & Consulting, of those consumers who are expecting to spend more, many plan to do so at fine dining restaurants. Overall, more than 51 percent of men plan to spend between $1 and $50 on Valentine's Day, while nearly 30 percent will spend between $51 and $200. Not surprisingly, men tend to spend more on Valentine's Day than women.
