Target hiring on 100K workers for holiday season

Target plans to hire 100,000 seasonal employees for the holiday sales season, the same number it hired on in 2021.

It also announced an early start to holiday promotions with discounts starting Oct. 6, according to a CNBC report.

The news comes on the heels of Walmart stating it plans to hire on 40,000 seasonal workers compared to the 150,000 workers it hired for the holiday time frame in 2021.

The U.S. retail sales this holiday season are expected to grow 7.1%, compared to last year, despite inflation and reported cutbacks by consumers when it comes to spending, according to a Mastercard Spending Pulse annual holiday forecast.
