Target is now offering a new online service that it hopes will lure offline customers, according to an article on nydailynews.com.
Yesterday, the retailer launched Cartwheel, a platform that offers customers access to deals and discounts via Facebook. But in order to redeem the offers, shoppers must travel to one of Target's brick-and-mortar locations.
With Cartwheel, shoppers can use their Facebook account to choose from hundreds of offers at Target's website (cartwheel.target.com), where they then get a barcode they can use to get the deals when they check out at a store.
"They're trying to improve the convenience factor through these applications, and they have decided to price-match," said Sean Naughton, a Piper Jaffray research analyst, in the article. "Interacting with social media is a new reality, and the better they can do at that, the better they can help drive traffic to their stores or their website."
