Target will invest more in store labor to boost the customer experience while trimming back about 500 jobs within its distribution centers and regional offices.
The retailer shared the news with employees in an email sent by Chief Stores Officer Adrienne Costanzo and Gretchen McCarthy, chief supply chain and logistics officer, according to a CNBC report.
The news comes in the same timeframe of Target's new CEO, Michael Fiddelke, take the reins.
"This change also fuels our ability to put significantly more payroll in our stores — primarily in additional labor and hours where needed most, but also in new guest experience training for every team member at every store," the email said, according to CNBC.
The retailer also has announced leadership changes, including Cara Sylvester, chief guest experience officer, becoming Target's chief merchandising officer. Lisa Roath, who had been serving as chief merchandising officer of food, essentials and beauty, will take Fiddelke's former role as chief operating officer.
